All documents can be submitted by email. When documentation has been received and verified, a receipt will be sent to you.

Monte Gardens Elementary School is a neighborhood and district-wide school of choice. Enrollment is open to students who reside in the Monte Gardens boundaries or students who reside in the MDUSD attendance boundaries.
Residents Enrollment
Families that reside in the Monte Gardens Attendance Area may enroll their student(s) at the Monte Gardens School Office Monday-Friday during office hours by appointment only. When calling to schedule your appointment, you will be asked for information in order to send the packet to you via email.
Kindergarten Lottery
Children must be five years of age on or before September 1 of the year they start Kindergarten. To be placed on the lottery waitlist, parents must sign up their student(s) through the Monte Garden Office the year prior to starting Kindergarten.
This includes neighborhood residents, siblings of students currently attending Monte Gardens and students who reside in the MDUSD attendance boundaries.
The Monte Gardens Kindergarten Lottery is held each year in December for children who will start Kindergarten the following August. Subject to the priorities described below, all students who sign up by the deadline will be randomly assigned a lottery number and the available Kindergarten spaces will be filled in lottery number order. Written confirmation of students selected is mailed home in late December and will provide information about next steps for Kindergarten registration. Only children from the lottery wait list who have received written confirmation will be registered.
The lottery number also dictates a student’s placement on the choice wait list for future openings kindergarten through 5th grade. Twins will be given the same lottery number. If there is only one space available, one space will be offered. If that space is declined, twins will remain on the wait list and be offered the first opportunity to attend our program when two spaces are available. Students that are not in a priority category and that sign up after the Kindergarten lottery in December will be placed at the end of the wait list based on the date paperwork and all required documents is received.

The following criteria are applied as priority placement in the lottery:
