A-5 Classroom

Weekly News June1, 2020

The end is here!  This has been one of the most interesting years ever and one of the saddest! It definitely didn't end as I expected it to, but we persevered and we made it!  Congratulations to surviving 2nd grade!  This is one for the memory books!  I may have mentioned this but, I'll say it again, this is the BEST group of children and families! Thank you for sharing your children with me!

This is my last newsletter for the 19-20 school year.  Thank you for taking the time to read it all year and for drawing pictures on homework and texting me emojis that you did! I greatly appreciate all the support you provided all year.  I appreciate that your children were prepared and ready to come to school each day.

I have added some summer reading activities in Google Classroom.  You will need to sign your children up for the Contra Costa County Library Summer Reading Program and the Half Priced Books Feed Your Brain program if you choose to participate.  I hope they will read during the summer.  All the websites listed here should be available if your children need something to do. Unfortunately, Reflex Math ended on May 26.  I can't even get in to check our class progress.

If you still haven't returned my classroom library book that was checked out, you could drop it off in the office.  Please put my name on it.  If you missed the Chromebook return times and picking up classroom materials last week, you can still come by this week.  The schedule is below.

  1. Monday, June 1st, 9am – 11am; 1pm – 3pm; Check-in at the main office

  2. Tuesday, June 2nd, 9am – 11am; 1pm – 3pm; Check-in at the main office

  3. Wednesday, June 3rd, 9am – 11am; 1pm – 3pm; Check-in at the main office

If I counted correctly, we missed 51 days together.  I wish we could gt them back.  We missed our Pirate Play, Centers, Mindful Monday and Wednesday PE, STEAM lab and science lessons and so much more.  Most of all, I missed all the hugs from your children at the end of the day(and during)!  Please give them one last hug, high 5, handshake or fist bump (their choice).

I hope you will have a great summer!  I hope you can set up some Zoom calls with your children's friends and try to remain close.  I can be reached through Remind.  After this week, I won't be checking my email regularly.  We still don't know what school will look like in the fall, but I truly hope we are on campus at Monte Gardens!  Please stay safe and healthy and manage to have some fun!  I will never forget my 2nd graders from the 2019-20 school year!

If you have read this far, please text me A SUN emoji in Remind!
