The Scholar Class

Carn-O -Ween Friday, October 26th 5:30-8:30pm

Don’t miss out on our annual Halloween carnival. It’s fun for the whole family! Play carnival games and earn tickets that you can turn in for prizes at the prize booth! Games are .50c a play. The Haunted Classroom is $1.00.

Please use discretion with costumes; nothing offensive or dangerous to others, no weapons, masks, guts or gore.

All children must have an adult on premises at all times, no drop offs. Please be courteous to our neighbors when selecting a parking space. We will be selling photo key chains, glow sticks, light up toys, snacks and have a food truck on site. Cash is preferred but credit and checks are also accepted.

We need your help to make this event a success. Please sign up for volunteer shifts on Konstella, consider donating treats for cake walk or used toys, books and games for the prize booth. Prize donations will be collected in front of the flag pole every Friday morning until the event.

Save money by pre-ordering your punch cards today! $35 for a “Family four pack” – 4 $10 punch cards. That’s a $5 savings! Or $9 for a $10 punch card. A $1 savings. Please return order form and payment with your child’s Monday Envelope no later than October 23rd. Pre-ordered cards will be available for pick up the day of the carnival at the ticket booth.

October Book Report: Realistic Fiction

This month's book report focuses on REALISTIC FICTION:

Homework Unit 2, Week 1 (10/8-10/12)

This week's homework assignment was sent home in your child's Monday Envelope.  If you need an extra copy click on the homework button! The FIRST fluency passage is what the MAJORITY of 2nd Grade readers are suppose to read.  The accelerated readers are to read the SECOND passage and answer the comprehension questions on the back.  Please do not complete TWO passages, unless you would like to.  Optional homework IS available!  All homework should be returned EACH Friday with a parent's signature stating that the student is ready to be assessed for Friday Fluency and has completed his/her homework.  A missed week of homework is considered 4 nights of homework missed.  2 homework alerts = a detention.

Prodigy: Online Math Games

Raz-Kids Login Info

Raz-Kids is an award-winning teaching product that provides comprehensive leveled reading resources for students. With hundreds of eBooks offered at 29 different levels of reading difficulty, it's easy for the teacher/parent to put the right content in every student's hands.

Kids access their leveled text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. Students then take a corresponding eQuiz complete with an extended answer response to test comprehension and determine future instruction needs. Once a child has read ten or more of the leveled eBooks and passed each of the corresponding eQuizzes, they advance on to the next reading level where they have access to lengthier and more difficult text.

Raz-Kids is a wonderful way to get your 20 minutes of reading in, too!  This is a program that the school pays for and I highly suggest taking advantage of it.  Need your child's login info?  Click on the picture below!  Be sure to download the app onto your iPads, and smartphones.  I have already gone through and updated all of the kids levels.  If for any reason you find that the reading is too difficult or easy, let me know and I can make an adjustment.
